Kirstie's Baby Shower

My sister in law is having a little boy in September.  I really wanted to throw her a baby shower since we wouldn’t be there for the birth of our nephew or around for his first few years of life.  She wanted a jungle theme so I ordered a great package from a wonderful website http://blog.bigdotofhappiness.com/   The customer service was great and the products were so cute!  I ordered a cute little cake from a girl I went to high school with that makes amazing cakes.  We had a great time at the shower and Kirstie got a ton of needed things for baby Carson.  We also got to spend a little more time with our family before leaving for Japan.  They all got a chance to come down to Grand Prairie the next day and have dinner with my family at Johnny Carinos.  It was nice to spend time with them all and have them all together.  We said our goodbyes and they headed back to their place.

Round Mountain Inn

My family wanted to go on a mini vaca while Tyler and I were in town but none of us wanted to spend a ton of money.  It just so happened that my mom’s friend Tobin owns a ranch house in Round Mountain (right outside of Marble Falls) that she rents out and it was free on the weekend we wanted to go.  We all headed down there in two cars (including Tobin, Ryan’s friend Nick, and our dog Prudence) and arrived after a few hours.  It was nice just relaxing in an old fashioned ranch house.  The boys had fun shooting a BB Gun and driving Tobin’s truck around the farm.  Ryan and Nick recently got their learners permits so they had a blast behind the wheel of the truck!  Prudence had a great time chasing down the longhorns and acting big and bad in front of them.  We went to dinner one night at the famous Blue Bonnet Café which was delish.  Good food and yummy pie for desert…. Yum yum!  The next day we just grilled out at the house and enjoyed each other’s company.  It was nice to get away for the weekend and spend a little one on one time with the fam.

San Antonio

One of my favorite places to visit in Texas is San Antonio.  Tyler and I were feeling a little overwhelmed with living out of a suitcase and sleeping on couches and decided we wanted to get away for a few days.  San Antonio is only a 5 hour drive from home so we decided to go there.  We planned on staying at a hotel on the Riverwalk but my uncle insisted that we stay at his apartment since he was going to be out of town.  We couldn’t resist a free place to stay so said yes.  The first night we got there we headed down to the Riverwalk for dinner and site seeing.  We ate at Dick’s Last Resort because Tyler had never been there and had a great time.  We then walked around a bit, took some pictures, and got candy apples and ice cream for a treat.  We walked over to the Alamo and took lots of pictures there and then headed back to my uncles.  The next morning we headed to Sea World.  They have a “Here’s to the Heroes” program and give military members and their dependents free admission for a day (I think once a year is all you can use the deal).  We didn’t take our camera but had a great time.  We arrived shortly before the Shamu show so we darted through the park to make it on time.  We watched the show and then went and rode a roller coaster.  We ate some ice cream, watched another show and then fed the dolphins!  What a neat experience!  We were pooped after the day was over so went home to take a nap before heading to my Aunt’s house for dinner.  We ended up staying the night at my aunt’s so we could spend time with her, my cousin, and my cousin’s daughter before heading back home.  I hated only having  a few days to spend in San Antonio but we had to get back home to spend time with everyone else!

Visiting home is always difficult because it is really hard to find enough time to see everyone.  Luckily I have a huge family that is all close by (most of them) and anytime you plan for a get together a ton of family members show up.  We decided to throw a pizza party at my grandmother’s house (Gaumy as we call her) so everyone could stop by and say hello/goodbye to Tyler and I before we headed to Japan.  It was nice to be able to see a ton of aunts/uncles/cousins and second cousins!  My aunt Marlene and cousin Laura even flew down from North Carolina to say goodbye!  Tyler's mom also came up for the party :) We ordered pizza from Pizza Inn (one of the family’s fav pizza places) and they even got us a cute cake that said “Sayonara Morgan & Ty” on it haha.  We had the best time and it was so great being able to see everyone one last time before leaving for three years!

Goodbye D.C!

When I was a little girl, I fell in love with Washington D.C and always said I wanted to live there when I “grew up”.  It just so happened that Tyler was stationed up there when we reunited a couple of years ago.  Things moved pretty fast between Tyler and I and after a spring break in D.C, I knew I wanted to be up there with him.  It didn’t take long for me to move up there and was so excited about calling such a great place my home.  I really enjoyed living in D.C.  I met some wonderful people, saw some amazing sites, and got to do some pretty cool things that not everyone can say that they have done.

As much as I hated the traffic and how crowded the city got, I am truly going to miss living in D.C.  I can’t wait until we get another chance to visit!
